Mayor of Wyong Shire, Doug Eaton visits Lee Academy

Mr. Doug Eaton visited Lee Academy on Friday, along with Stuart Slough from community & cultural planning  & special guest: Joshua Horner, Lee Academy patron & judge on Channel 7’s “Dancing with the Stars”.

The special event was held at Lee Academy to celebrate the launch of the new Art house logo, which will be the image used for the new performing arts centre that will be built in the heart of Wyong soon.
Lee Academy strongly supports the new performing arts centre, a Wyong Shire Council initiative that will see a brand-new theatre with all the trimmings built at Wyong for the whole Central Coast community to enjoy.

TV & newspaper crews were also there to celebrate the event, along with invited guests & all the Lee Academy staff & some of the LA fulltimers. The Lee Academy dancers were then asked to perform for the TV crew & they got some great footage.

Studio Director, Jo Cotterill, took the mayor on a tour of our beautiful facility & discussed with him the development of the performing arts on the Central Coast.

Sunrise shoot with Bree & Danni

Monday, June 27th, 2011

2 of LA’s full timers, Bree & Danni enjoyed an awesome sunrise shoot with Damian & Jo recently to get new dance portfolios done for them. It was great to be at the beach again to see the sunrise & to capture the 2 girls dancing in such an amazing time of the day.
We are so lucky here on the Central Coast to have so many beautiful beaches to choose from for our photo shoots.
Tierneys photography has shot many well-known choreographers & dancers on sunrise on the coast, as well as our top performers from Lee Academy
Here are a couple of amazing images from the morning with Bree & Danni:

Damian Tierney photography uses only the best equipment.
The reason why his images are so dramatic & beautiful is because of the wonderful dancers, location, state-of-the-art equipment & Damian’s artistic vision.
Here are some other famous images that Damian has taken on sunrise:

Pictured: Sher Manu, the famous choreographer chose a sunrise shoot with Damian for new shots for her website.

Pictured: Joshua Horner, judge on Channel 7’s “Dancing with the Stars” & choreographer/consultant to Disney USA, chose a sunrise shoot with Damian for one of the many photo shoots he has had with Damian Tierney photography.

Congratulations Miss Emma & Mr Michael – & farewell for now!

Wednesday, June 1st, 2011

Lee Academy dancers Emma Casey and Michael Stone are winging their way to Singapore to join a dance and circus spectacular on a six-month contract.
The pair leave this Sunday and are excited by the prospect of performing in the Voyage De La Vie at Resorts World, Sentosa.
Both have performed in shows and concerts over the years including So You Think You can Dance and more recently at Disneyland in Los Angeles.
Both studied at Lee Academy in Tuggerah – Emma graduated from the academy’s fulltime performing arts program last year; Michael is enrolled in the same course.
For Emma, 24, of Blue Haven, this will be her first visit to Singapore.
Michael, 21, of Watanobbi, performed there last year.

Emma has been dancing since she was eight years old.
“I fell in love with dance and gymnastics from the very first day,” she said.
“I loved every minute of it and decided when I was 18 to make dance my career.
“I am so grateful that Miss Jo, the studio director, decided to start fulltime at Lee Academy as it was the link for me in to a promising professional career.”

Michael started dancing at the academy at the age of 12, at first in the boys only class.
“After my first stage performance I just wanted to do more and more,” he said.
Since then he has undertaken every style of dance.
All of us at Lee Academy wish Miss Emma & Mr Mick a wonderful time & success on their new adventure!
We will all miss you & we are very proud!
