Joshua Horner, our wonderful Patron & judge on Dancing with the Stars, choreographer for Disney & star of A Chorus Line has been with us all week teaching many of our students privately, in workshops & also in masterclasses in classical ballet, musical thetare, pas de deux, jazz, audition technique, turns & contemporary dance.
It has been wonderful to see Mr Josh all week & our students have once again greatly improved under Mr Josh’s guidance.

Tricks keep on coming in our gym!

With our expert acrobatics coach, Miss Di, our kids just keep on getting trick after trick this year.
Week 7 & the trick posters are filling up fast once again. We love Miss Di for our safe, “perform anywhere” acrobatic skills.
We also have 2 new lyra (aerial hoops) on the way for our aerial/silk classes, and some MORE silks & cordeleise (circus ropes) = ready for our circus/aerial arts students in term 2.

Michael Schwandt at Lee Academy

We started off Week 7 with a fantastic commercial jazz workshop taught by Michael Schwandt who has worked with Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, the Veronicas & more.
Everyone loved it & then our fulltimers started the next day with another workshop with Michael, this time, lyrical dance.
Thank you Michael for coming along to teach at LA it was great.
Congratulations to one of our Diploma students, Bree Owen, for assisting Michael on the tour at many of his workshops.

Outstanding exam results

A massive congratulations to all our students who recently took exams with BAL in Jazz, Tap & Ballet.
As always our students received outstanding results & it is wonderful to see our many students be so well rewarded.

Thank you so much to wonderful Miss Ward, our examiner & to Miss Alyssa for co-ordinating the exams & teaching lots of extra lessons to help students achieve such amazing results.

Lee Academy students will be undertaking more BAL graded examinations later this year as well.

Our boys win B-Boy competition

After only 4 weeks of training in our new Breakdance classes, 2 of our guys, Joe & Keanu won a B-Boy competition in Wyong.

They each won some great earphones worth $70 each, & proudly took the title home!

New Head of Tap department at Lee Academy

As of 2012, Lee Academy has a new permanent Head Tap teacher, Mr Nathan Sheens.
Expert Tap teacher, master coach & professional performer, an original “Tap Dog”, Nathan brings with him all his knowledge, experience & passion for Tap dance & is loving being part of the Lee Academy faculty.
Nathan is teaching every tap class, from our tiny recreational students, to the adults class, to the advanced tap classes.
Welcome to the team Mr Nathan, we love having you on board!

“Doin’ hard work” with Kelley Abbey

Lee Academy advanced musical theatre students had a great day with Kelley learning parts of “Fame” (which Kelley choreographed & directed in 2010 & also in 1999). We love Kelley being part of what we do at Lee Academy as we do with all the special guest teachers who regularly come to teach & mentor our students.

It was great to have Kelley Abbey, famed choreographer, director & performing artist with us in the studio today teaching jazz to Lee Academy students.
Kelley also taught an advanced Musical Theatre workshop: teaching our students her first hand knowledge of the musical FAME which she choreographed & directed in 1999 & 2010 = & we loved every minute of it, as usual!

Thank you to the wonderful Kelley for always being so supportive of Lee Academy we love you!

Acro achievements
