LA Teachers upgrade with Acrodancer.

Monday, June 28th, 2010

Head teacher of Acrobatics & Gymnastics, Dianne Banks, enjoyed a wonderful 2 days with many other Lee Academy teachers upgrading the acrobatics syllabus to the “Acrodancer” training system.

Lee Academy will be one of the first schools in Australia to take on the brand new syllabus that is world class in it’s content & structure. A very exciting new program has now been implemented within all LA gym classes & we are very excited about the new syllabus which offers amazing opportunities to take exams, grading & gain many qualifications.

This is some of the work that Mr Joshua Horner did with one of the Lee Academy dancers Danni Hegarty when he was here. Joshua Horner, who is based in the USA as a professional choreographer, works with Lee Academy students whenever he is in Australia and this is what he achieved with Danni in just 2 hours in the studio.

Back to class for term 2!

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010

Had an excellent first night back to class with the best of the best there ready to teach all our kids.

We started with Joshua Horner: formerly of the Australian Ballet Company & Broadway:now with Disney in USA as a choreographer & dance clinitian, he is back at Lee Academy to teach exclusively for the next 3 weeks.

Nathan Sheens (an original Tap Dog, constantly touring & has done many successful musicals as well) is our new resident tap technician & all the tap classes enjoyed his challenging tap classes once again tonight.

Lucas Newland is choreographing our latest Senior Advanced Jazz & it’s shaping up to be a killer routine!

Our LM studio launched into T2 with Di Banks our master acrobatics coach getting started with all the pupils level grading work & Miss B got stuck straight into her Hip-Hop routines which are shaping up to be her best ever.

Miss Laura living her dream dancing on a Grand-class cruise ship: Diamond Princess

Friday, March 5th, 2010

The Diamond Princess took a once-only, one-day stop over in Sydney Harbour on the weekend so it was a great opportunity for Miss Jo, Damian & family to see Miss Laura in action aboard the A-class cruise ship.

Miss Laura spent the day showing Miss Jo around the ship, backstage tour & a wonderful time to catch up.

So proud of Miss Laura : living her dreams performing as one of the star dancers on board in the beautiful 750 seat theatre that is housed within the ship. Laura joins fellow past LA student Lauren S on board the very same ship, & it was a lovely coincidence to run into another past student Luke on his way to teach at Sydney Dance Co on the same day!

Rodeo 2010

Sunday, January 17th, 2010

The Lee Academy crew had a great time performing at the rodeo last week at Wyong Rugby League Club in front of thousands of people.

It was great to be there performing again. Well done to our special junior guest dancers = Cassie & Taylor who did a great job tumbling across the performance space! Our pro girls Danni, Emma & Brooke were fantastic as usual.

Great job guys.

Patron Mr Josh Horner coaches LA students

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

It was great having our the Patron of Lee Academy, Mr. Josh Horner (formerly of the Australian Ballet, star of Billy Elliot & much more) visiting our studio while in Australia to give intensive coaching sessions to many of our students. Mr. Josh worked with our young stars intensively for 2 weeks & passed on much of his knowledge to the pupils. Although only in Australia for a very short period of time, Mr Josh chose to spend the majority of it with us at Lee Academy & we cannot thank him enough for the wonderful contribution he makes to our school. Our pupils enjoyed work-shopping thier solo pieces, working on turns, kicks & leaps, & learning the wonderful choreography of Mr. Josh’s plus many hours learning choreography from the best musicals in the world.
