What a fantastic weekend at Showcase Sydney groups!
We had a wonderful day on Sunday in Sydney at Showcase State Dance Championships.
All of our routines were excellent & our dancers performed with outstanding precision, passion & focus.

Fame the musical’s Shannon O’Shea at Lee Academy teaching class.

The beautiful & talented Shannon O’Shea, currently on the cast of FAME! The musical was with us yesterday to teach our Fulltime, Fulltime masterclass, 14’s advanced & Senior Advanced classes in Jazz, Lyrical & Musical Theatre.

It was an absolutely wonderful day & all the students had such a great time.

Thank you so much to Shannon for excellent classes & we can’t wait for her return!

City of Sydney Eisteddfod – another great result for Lee Academy

City of Sydney Eisteddfod is the largest & most prestigious event of it’s kind in the Southern hemisphere & Lee Academy prides itself on being in attendance there to compete and perform each year.

The 14′s contemporary had phenomenal success placing 2nd in thier section on the weekend.

The routine was “polkamatic” choreographed by Director Jo Cotterill.

Training at our best

August 3rd, 2010

All the LA kids have been training hard since returning to class for term 3 – a huge term for us with Showcase state championships on the 15th, Dance Attack Challenge troupes on the 18th & 19th September, solos/duos from the 25th – 30th September & culminating in a series of shows at Westfield Shoppingtown in the 2nd week of the school holidays.

“Across the floor” is one of the juniors favourite things to do, here’s a few pics:

WICKED visit Lee Academy

It was fantastic to have Wicked cast members visit Lee Academy to meet & perform for our students, families & friends.

Jemma Rix, who plays lead role of “Elphaba” in the Sydney production & Michael Snell who plays “Fiyero” were both with us for the afternoon, answering questions from our students & parents & also performing for us!

It was a wonderful time!

Excellent competition results

July 19th, 2010

Congratulations to all who performed in competitions from Newcastle to Sydney in the holidays.

We recorded outstanding results across the board & our list of achievements at all eisteddfods was outstanding.

Lee Academy was awarded the Coastquest:

Most Professional Dance Studio

Most Professional Dance Troupe

Most Promising Senior Dancer – Danni Hegarty

We won the 1st, 2nd & 3rd in the Senior Contemporary group section

We also won the 1st & 2nd in the 12/u Jazz group section

these are the only 2 group sections we entered this time.

There were loads of excellent solo & duo results as well. We are still hearing from students so will post up a full list when we have collected all the results!

So far the count stands at 30 – 1st places, 15 – 2nd places and 9 – 3rd places,,   Go LA!

Miss Jo & Mr Josh’s photoshoot with Tierneys

Happy Birthday Katrina!

The lovely Katrina E celebrated her 14th birthday at Lee Academy on the weekend with us by choosing to have her birthday party at Lee Academy.

It was a really wonderful party with all her dancing & school friends coming along to share the fun with Miss Emma, Miss Laura & Miss Rachel to enjoy the day with Katrina & friends.
