Joshua Horner has been a supporter of Lee Academy since its beginnings. Joshua began his dance training at age 6 and became serious about his career in dance at age 12 whilst being taught by David Atkins and David's wife Sheree da Costa. At 16 Joshua was accepted into The Australian Ballet School in Melbourne under the direction of Gailene Stock. In his second year Joshua won the 'Nescafe Big Break' Award for $20,000 to help his training and development for a career in the Arts. After three intensive years he graduated with 'Honours' with an Advanced Diploma in Dance and was then instantly offered a contract with The Australian Ballet.
Joshua spent five and a half years with the Australian Ballet. During this time he was most known for his role as "Jack" in Graeme Murphy's Dance Musical "Tivoli". He was nominated for a Helpmann Award in 2002 for Best Male Dancer and in 2003 won an Australian Dance Award for"Most Outstanding Performance in a Stage Musical" for his performance in"Tivoli".

During his time with the Australian Ballet he performed principal roles such as "Spartacus" in partacus and featured in works such us "In the Upper
Room, Four Temperaments, In the Night, Don uixote, Romeo and Juliet, Manon, The Merry Widow, Greame Murphy's Swan Lake and Nutcracker, Mercurial
Manouvers, Voluntaries, Por Vos Muero, The Three Musketeers, Rites and Divergence just to name a few.
Having a strong passion for Musical Theatre, Joshua decided to make his dream a reality and left the Australian Ballet mid 2004. He was cast straight away in the World Premiere of Dirty Dancing "The Classic Story Onstage'. Working with writer of the hit film, Eleanor Bergstein, he was cast as a featured ensemble member and covered and played the role of
"Johnny Castle". In January 2006 Joshua's career turned international and he moved to London's West End after he was sourced for a leading role in Twyla Tharp and Billy Joel's Broadway Smash Hit 'Movin' Out', where he played the role of 'Tony'

Joshua then Featured as the Havana Boy and Featured Crapshooter in the Donmar's UK Touring Production of 'Guys and Dolls' directed by Michael Grandage and Jamie Lloyd and choreographed by Rob Ashford. Returning to Australia mid 2007, Joshua was cast in the first offshore production of 'Billy Elliot the Musical' in Sydney playing the role of 'Older Billy'. Joshua currently resides in New York where he is performing on Broadway in
'Billy Elliot the Musical'. Joshua sites his career highlights to date as Dancing the Lead role of 'Tony' in 'Movin Out' on London's West End, performing with Elton John in the opening number of the Tony Awards New York for Billy Elliot. Joshua's Motto is 'Dance like a Star, Act like a real Person.' In the future Joshua's plans are to keep dancing, performing and learning and passing it back to the younger generation.
